Should I Eat Organic or Non-Organic Food?

Should I eat organic or non-organic food? Is being on a healthy organic diet really worth it? Are non-organic products harmful to my body? What are the major differences between organic and non-organic food?

You might have asked yourself these questions. Well, the good news is that you are not the only one asking. Recently, people have become more educated and enlightened about organic products and their benefits to our bodies. In this article, we will explain the meaning of organic food. Also, we will focus on the main differences between organic and non-organic food and why organic products should be on the top of your list!

Let us first understand the meaning of organic food. The term organic simply means the food grown without the use of synthetic pesticides, harmful chemical fertilizers or genetically modified organisms (GMOs).

At every stage of production, an organic farmer makes a very conscious decision to have as little impact on the environment as possible. They always put the health and well-being of the consumer first, which is where it should be. Let us take a look at the stark differences between conventional and organic farming methods.

Even before a seed is sown, the conventional farmer would spray his soils with chemicals to kill off any naturally occurring fungicides. On the other hand, the organic farmer simply enriches his soils with natural-based fertilizers. When it is time to harvest the produce, the conventional farmer would start spraying his produce with weedicide in order to get rid of any dreaded weeds. However, unlike the conventional farmer, the organic farmer would eliminate the dreaded weeds without using harmful chemicals. The organic farmer would use a non-toxic weed control method called Flame Weeding.

Although organic and non-organic produce is nutritionally similar and contains the same vitamins and minerals, there is a big differentiation. The main difference between organic and non-organic food is what farmers put on them. There are over 5.6 billion pounds of pesticides dumped on non-organic produce each year. Those pesticides have all types of bad side effects, especially for our younger generation as kids are more susceptible to these toxins.

After having a full picture of the key differences between organic and non-organic products, let us have a moment to think of all the pesticides and weedicides that have been used in conventional farming. What happens once you eat non-organic products? Are we not what we eat? Are we by default absorbing pesticide residue which could make us sick?
